Course: The 6.2-mile course will start in Margate, NJ at the new municipal pier on the corner of Washington and Amherst Avenues. The finish will be at the ACHS Crew House near the famed Albany Avenue Bridge in the historic Chelsea district of Atlantic City. The Crew House, located on Fairmount Avenue (near Sovereign Ave.) will also serve as event headquarters and include indoor showers and bathroom facilities. This will be a salt-water swim contested in the back bays of the Intracoastal Waterway. Water temperatures vary at that time of year from 72 to 80°F (22-26°C). Swimmers will enjoy an incoming tide to assist them especially during the early stages of the race.
Safety: Escort and Safety craft will be provided by volunteers from the Atlantic City Aquatic Club, alongside the New Jersey State Marine Police, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Jersey Shore Sea Kayakers. Swimmers will be provided with water and sports drink. Trainers for swimmers in the World Cup event may choose to be stationed on the race course.
Pre-Race Meeting: Pre-Race meeting and Pasta dinner will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Race Headquarters on Fairmount Avenue. Swimmers are required to attend or be represented. Swimmers who do not attend must notify meet management ten days prior and be responsible for all information released at the meeting. Family and friends are welcome to attend the pre race dinner and meeting. Swimmers should include that request in writing with the entry form and include $10.00 per additional person. A post-race awards ceremony and dinner will also be provided.
Eligibility: All swimmers in the World Cup event must be either registered with USA Swimming or be foreign swimmers who have obtained appropriate travel credentials as approved by FINA affiliated national federations. USA Swimming will serve as a clearinghouse for foreign athlete eligibility. The event will be conducted according to current FINA Open Water guidelines. There will also be a USMS sanctioned masters division available for qualified masters.
Entry Fee & Deadline: USA Swimming athletes are responsible for a $70.00 entry payable to “10K for the USA”. Entry fees cover administrative expenses, a commemorative medal, t-shirt and both the pre-race and post race dinners. There is no entry fee for foreign athletes representing their respective FINA federations. Entries must be received at the address listed below by August 23, 2004.
Lodging: Lodging and Board expenses will be provided for all 2003 FINA World Championship medalists. A limited number of additional foreign athletes may be provided with same as per the FINA Marathon World Cup 2004 Contract. USA Swimming athletes who qualify and participate in the 2004 Long Beach Olympic Trials may also be provided with complimentary lodging. Contact the Race Director for more information. Prizes: A total purse of $15,000 is planned for competitors in both men’s and women’s divisions as follows: 1st - $4000; 2nd - $2000; 3rd - $1000; 4th - $500.
Transportation: Travel to Atlantic City is possible by flying directly into Atlantic City International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport (one hour drive), or the New York airports (2˝ hour drive).

RELEASE FROM LIABILITY: I hereby declare that I exonerate of all liability and responsibility however so arising, the FINA, its affiliates, the event OC and staff, the venue owners, Sponsors, and any other persons that participate at the Event, in respect to all and every action or claim about accident that may occur (except liability and responsibility for personal injury or death caused due to the negligence of those respective bodies or persons).
DOPING CONTROL AUTHORISATION: I agree to participate, if selected, in random drug testing at any time, either in or out of competition, as organized by FINA. I also agree that FINA rules, related to doping control and drug testing shall be effective in relation to me personally.
TRANSFER OF RIGHTS: Understanding as a Competitor in the FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup 2004 the importance for FINA of keeping all filming, television, photographing, and other recording rights during the Event, I, in consideration of the acceptance of my participation in the FINA MSWC 2004, agree to be filmed, televised, photographed and otherwise recorded during the Event under the conditions and for the purposes now and hereafter authorized by FINA in relation to the promotion of the FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup and the Sport of Swimming.
