A BELATED YET SINCERE "THANK YOU!"

The Neptune Challenge was a great success for our swimmers and team!  Congratulations to all the swimmers who achieved JO cuts and personal best times!  A heartfelt "thank you" to all who so generously donated their time and talents to make this meet a great one.  From the coaches who tirelessly motivated and cheered on our swimmers to the swimmers themselves who stayed beyond their sessions to time, do ribbons, and cheer on their teammates--we are all very grateful for your help.  So many parents went above and beyond what was asked by helping out during extra sessions--some attending ALL five sessions to get the jobs done. You know who you are and we sincerely give you the biggest of "thank you".  An extra special "thank you" must be acknowledged to Michele Santer for her tireless dedication to organizing and running this sanctioned meet--all the way from Delaware at that!  Many thanks also to Paula Cifelli for her efforts and those of the generous senior Mrs. Cifelli for the fabulous Hospitality area they ran for the coaches and officials.  Your hard work and delicious meals were truly appreciated by those working the meet. As always, Lori Jackson did a superb job with the concession area!  There were several new families who really stepped up to the plate--especially the new 8 & Under parents SUPER JOB!

Again, to ALL a very sincere THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

2008 MA Mini Champ (8 & Under) Entries are due by 3/5. Contact Coach Dimitar for additional information!

Isaiah Jackson, Thien Le, Mark Pino, and Peter Wakeley combined their performances to take the 9-10 Boys Age Group High Point Team Title.

ATLANTIC CITY AQUATIC CLUB
"Providing young people with a positive direction in life through excellence in aquatics"

Dear ACAC Family,

I would like to congratulate the entire team for an awesome Summer Long Course Season. With many swimmers from our program achieving Top 16 reportable times and two swimmers swimming successfully at Junior Nationals, the Atlantic City Aquatic Club continues to function as the best quality program in the area. Our program boasts an experienced and dedicated staff whose only goal is to achieve nothing short of best from our swimmers.

With this in mind, it is time to plan for the upcoming Fall/Winter Season. Our season will begin on Monday, September 11th at the Atlantic City High School for all returning ACAC and new experienced swimmers. This season in addition to competing in various USA Swimming meets, our team will be competing in the newly formed Atlantic-Cape Swim Association. ACSA is comprised of three teams; the Egg Harbor Township Seahawks, the Ocean City C-Cerpants, and ourselves. ACSA will be offering six competitions. These meets promise to be competitive, fun and are designed with all levels of swimming in mind. As a co-founder of ACSA, I am proud of the work that has gone into making this new winter format a perfect fit for our program. ACAC, EHT, and OCCC will continue to compete and support the Summer Greater South Jersey Swim League.

On Saturday, September 16th and 23rd ACAC will be conducting tryouts for all new beginner swimmers. Tryouts will begin at 8:00 AM and continue until 11:00 AM. We will be posting information on the website in addition to reaching out to all neighboring communities in an attempt to build up our awesome Bronze Program! Please feel free to spread the word about our club. As an incentive, we are pleased to announce our new “Tell a Friend” offer to all existing families. If you bring a new swimmer to our team, your fundraising fee will be waived!

Further, the ACAC Boosters will be coming out with specific fundraising information. We are planning on having a Swim-A-Thon to help support the team. The "Swim-A-Thon" and other fundraising activities will be posted on the website. Please get involved in making our team financially strong!

Our team fitting is scheduled for Saturday, October 7 at the high school. Swimmers will be able to purchase black suits (our team suit), goggles, caps, etc. The schedules for all training groups will be posted on the website very soon. If you have any questions concerning training groups please feel free to call me at (609) 827-7727.

The entire ACAC family of coaches, parents, and most importantly, swimmers remain dedicated to continuing our tradition of being the premiere swim club in the region. We are looking forward to another successful year and thank you in advance for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Coach Garr

2006 NCSA Junior Nationals  SCY - Results

ACAC Results      Meet Results

Evan, Kevin, and Curt at Junior Nationals Orlando, FL

Greetings from Sunny Orlando!
If you need more encouragement to swim fast let me add one more: The WEATHER at Junior Nationals. While it is freezing back in the Northeast, not to mention snowing raining and cloudy, it is warm and sunny here!!!!!!!!
Kevin and Evan are in the process of seeing just how far you can stretch a taper until it snaps back at you. These two guys worked very hard all season to do well at their High School Finals and States, then worked even harder to do as well as they could at the Anapolis Sectionals where they picked up their Jr. Nationals Times. Less than 48 hours later they were in Orlando thinking, "hey, i've bettered my personal bests about six times lately, maybe I can just keep on dropping time"
Alas, even Superman had to deal with Krytonite. Kevin and Evan did not dissappoint. They continued to give a Super amount of energy and came up with 2nd and 3rd best times at the tail end of a very long racing season.
They both kept up a very positive attitude and I am very proud of them, both for achieving the times to race at this level and still putting down solid times they did not even have a month ago.
There is yet another good reason to qualify for this meet: During the down time between race days boys were nowhere to be found. It seems the attendance at Disney World and Universal Studios was up this week.
Keep up the good work all you ACAC Swimmers!!

Coach Curt

TOP NEWS - ACAC swimmers continue to show outstanding performance at the 2006 Southern Reg. Speedo Championships - Sectional

Evan Schindewolf has qualified for the finals on 200IM with a top time of 1:55.85. Also, Evan has placed 5th on 100 BR with his best time of 59.62, and 7th on 400 IM (Prelims - 4:07.54). Let's wish him a good luck defending his remarkable swim this afternoon (200 IM)!!!

Joshua Wakeley   just missed the medal by less than a 0.50s with his best time on 1000 Free (9:30:89), which also is a National's cut. Josh improved his time on 500 Free with the time of 4:39.63. Let's cross our fingers for  Josh on his strongest even - 1650 Free.

Last night , Kevin Cain has placed 5th with his best time on 100 Back (53.46).   Kevin has currently placed 4th (100 free)  for the finals with his best time of 47.35. Good luck Kevin! You are only a penny form the medal!

Andrea Williams (50 Free - 25:84) did her best time on 100 Free (55:84) by accomplishing her seasonal goal - swimming 100 Free under 56:00. She also officially qualified for a swim clinic in Colorado.

Bethany Wakeley swam close to her best times on 500 Free and 400 IM. Good luck to Bethany on her strongest even, 1000 Free (No Results), which is still in session.

Dear ACAC Family,

ACAC had a fine Junior Olympics. We took 6th place as an overall team. You can check the website for all of the results from GCIT last weekend. Colleen Callahan and Thien Le took high point awards in both of their respective age groups.

Andrea Williams made qualifying times for sectionals in the 50 free. She earned times that make her eligible to attend a Swim Clinic at Colorado Springs! The entire team wishes her luck at Sectionals and hopes that a trip to Colorado will be in her future.

Julie Bassford overcame adversity beyond her control to earn a spot on this year’s Zone Team. Julie is a fierce competitor. She deserves so much credit for her great races this weekend.

Bethany Wakeley proved that she is a big part of the future of distance swimming in this area. Along the way she posted a great time in the 100. Don’t be afraid to use those fast-twitch muscles!

Hannah Wakeley continues to be the dominant 11-12  swimmer of distance events in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Good Luck at Zones!

Kevin Cain made finals in both the 50 and 100 free. Kevin is a wonderful young man who plans on attending the Naval Academy. He’ll be swimming at Annapolis this weekend—a perfect opportunity to envision his future.

Laura Bassford posted some best times and had a fantastic N.J. State HS Meet. Laura is looking forward to the long course season as she continues to set goals that include improving her 400 IM and 200 fly.

Laura Morrison had a wonderful JOs. Her efforts in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle events are reflective of the hard work that she performed in the pool this Winter during tough practice conditions. Coach Wakeley smiles from ear to ear when we talk about her future in the 200 fly.

Anthony Cox, Jeffrey Flynn, Patrick Flynn, Wali Toulson, and Frank Pino had several fantastic swims. Our 11-12 Boys made a wonderful showing. Their relays placed high as you will see if you check the results on our website.

Congratulations to all of our first-time JO participants Elvia Alvarez, Bridget Keough, and Eliana Yu. Our new generation of swimmers proved their ability to perform well in a meet with very tough competition.

It was a wonderful experience. I hope to give you more thoughts about Junior Olympics from the other coaches that attended the meet this weekend. We want to make sure we include as many stories from the meet as possible. Look for their stories in the next couple days.

Coach Garr

To All ACAC Parents, Coaches, and Kids!

This year, I would like to propose that instead of our annual Pollyanna, that we would collect gifts for Sister Jean Webber's Kitchen for those that are not as fortunate. Items should include scarves, hats, and gloves in all sizes, this will be greatly appreciated and I know we all would like to help someone else, so let’s take advantage of this holiday season.
There will be a decorated box in the pool area for all donations. Please, bring all items unwrapped and new in by December 14, 2005!
             Thank You in Advance!
