Each preliminary session will use the “over/under” starts. Swimmers from the finishing heat will stay in the water until the next heat leaves the blocks. We will stick to a 15 second heat interval for all preliminary sessions.
School is in session at GCIT all day on Friday. The parking lot will be off limits for meet patron parking until 3:30pm. Parents will be able to drop off their swimmers at the following times:
6 to 7:15am
12:10 to 1:30pm
Parking will be available next door at Gloucester County College during this time. Use the Tanyard Road entrance and drive back to the baseball field on your left. Parking is available in this lot.
Shuttle busses will run on Friday from 6am to 4:30pm between this lot and GCIT.
GCIT Security will be in the parking lot to enforce proper procedure on Friday for the preliminary sessions. ALL CARS must enter through the front entrance off of Tanyard Road (cars entering through the back past the other two schools will be turned around). You will be directed to the first loop at the front of the school where you can drop your swimmer off. SWIMMERS MUST USE THE SIDEWALK TO WALK TO THE POOL, DO NOT WALK IN THE STREET OR ACROSS THE GRASS!!!
Parents/coaches/guardians will not be permitted to stop or get out of their cars in the GCIT lot for any reason on Friday during the school day. If you need to escort your swimmer into the school they MUST park and take the shuttle bus with you.
When it is available, parking must be done only in designated spots in the GCIT lot. Cars parked illegally (not in a parking spot, on the grass, in a fire lane, etc.) will be ticketed by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department.
The Gloucester County Fire Marshall has set the seating capacity in the pool balcony at 450 spectators. Until 450 people have entered this area the stairwell by the elevator will be for people going up only. The stairwell at the far end of the balcony by the deep end of the pool will be for people going down only. Once the balcony has reached capacity you will be able to enter the balcony only if someone leaves. THE ONLY ENTRANCE INTO THE SCHOOL YOU MAY USE IS THROUGH THE FRONT DOORS BY THE THREE FLAG POLES.
We ask that, throughout the weekend, you take some time away from the balcony when your swimmer is not competing to allow another guest the chance to watch their child swim. The commons area by the cafeteria will be open on Saturday and Sunday and the television in this area will provide a live feed of the main scoreboard.
Again, school is in session on Friday. Therefore, meet patrons will not be able loiter or sit in the hallways (or at any time during the weekend). Middle Atlantic volunteers will be working to keep the hallways clear throughout the weekend. Please respect the volunteer job they do and abide by the safety codes in place at the school. The school hallways will be kept free of people sitting, lying down (or generally not moving) the entire weekend to ensure proper hallway egress.
Anyone caught in an “off limits” area at any time will be ejected from the school campus for the remainder of the weekend. Again, your cooperation is anticipated and appreciated.
Chairs will not be permitted in the balcony or on the pool deck the entire weekend. Do not even bring a chair to the meet, as you will not be permitted to enter the balcony or pool deck with a chair, even if you plan to keep it folded.
ONCE AGAIN, THE 13 AND OVER PRELIMINARY SESSIONS ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL BEGIN AT 8:00am WITH WARM-UP BEGINNING AT 6:30am. THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE ORIGINAL MEET INFORMATION. PLEASE BE SURE THAT ALL OF YOUR SWIMMERS ARE AWARE OF THIS FACT!!!
