Dimitar A Petrov
Coach Dimitar has been coaching in ACAC since the fall of 2005. Under Dimitar's training many Silver and Gold Group's swimmers have reach Junior Olympic qualifying times and winners at MA Mini Championship. Currently, Coach Dimitar works with Gold Group swimmers who are at top Junior Olympic level and successfully competed in 2007 Eastern Zone Team.
In his previous experience, Coach Dimitar has been training the Junior and Intermediate Groups for Ocean City C-Cerpance. He is from Bulgaria, where he spent most of his swimming career. As a swimmer he accomplished World Champion of Marathon Swimming (1996), World Master Champion (1998), 4th place at US Nationals-25K (1999), 5th place and 15 NCAA Division II All-American titles (2000-2003), 7th place at European Championship SCM(1989), Bulgarian National Record Holder (1988-93), ranked at World's Top 50 in 1500 LCS in1988.
Thomas M Jewell
Group Coach (Bronze and Silver)
Tom Jewell moved to New Jersey in June of 2012 from Indianapolis, Indiana where he had coached swimming for more than 30 years. He coached for 22 years at Washington Township Swim Club, holding positions during that time as: head coach, head age group coach, senior assistant coach and business manager. He also coached men’s and women’s swimming teams at North Central High School, and Cathedral High School-both in Indianapolis. Prior to his time at WTSC, Tom was the head coach at Arthur Jordan YMCA in Indianapolis for 8 years.
Tom also coached at the Jewish Community Center in Margate, New Jersey in 2013 and 2014, and joined the Pleasantville Aquatics coaching staff early in the 2015 short course season.
He was been recognized by Indiana Swimming as their Age Group Coach of the Year, and received the Jim Clark Memorial Award. This award is presented to a coach who has shown a continued, active effort in the development of Indiana Swimmers and the programs that USA Swimming and Indiana Swimming provide.
He has also coached at many Age Group Camps conducted at the IUPUI Natitorium in Indianapolis.
Tom is a Level 3 coach as certified by the American Swimming Coaches Association, and has coached many swimmers who continue to swim, both in college and at the masters level.
