Middle Atlantic Age Group Elite Meet - GCIT, January 20-22, 2012

ACAC swimmer sets national age group record. Destin Lasco broke the National Age Group record for 9-10 Boys 50 Back 28.37 (previous record was 28.5) ...
but let's good back to the beginning of the meet ... no by swimmer

Those swimmers that places in the finals were:
Amber Glenn (13-14 girls) started out Friday night with a big 7 second drop in the 500 free for 2nd ... and her first Sectional qualifying time. Later that night she medaled (8th place) in the 400IM (with 9 second drop). Amber made finals and best times in her Saturday events: 200 free 2nd with another Sectional qualifying time, 200 back 15th, and 100 free 15th. She is having a great meet. Sunday, she comes back for 100 back, 200 IM and 1650 free.
Laura Wakeley (11-12 girls) had was third in 100 Breast 1:12.18. This was a monster time drop but, like Amber, shows what happens when you come to practice. With this swim Laura moves into 17th inthe country. This swim was way over what was was expected for this meet by Coach Dimitar.
Destin Lasco was another ACAC swimmer who swam best times in every event ... and more.
500 Free 2nd and very close to ACAC team mate Thine Le's record.
200 IM 2nd by a touch and was faster then the meet record.
100 Free 1st ... meet record, MA LSC record and team record
100 IM 1st ... meet record, MA LSC record and team record
50 Back ... meet record, MA LSC record, team record ... and Natianal Age group record
He comes back on Sunday for 50 Free, 100 Back and 200 free which shapes up to be a big race for the 9-10 high point.


Steven Nguyen was yet another swimmer who had best times in all his events: 500 Free, 200IM, 100 Free, 100 Fly. He placed 11th in 200 IM and made the A final in the 100 Fly 7th. He comes back on Sunday for 200 Fly, 50 Fly, and 100 Back.
Justin Liu started off Friday night with a 5 second drop in the 500 free, finishing 13th. After a disappointing swim in the 200 IM (10th), he came back for the 400IM (2 second drop and 12th). On Saturday, he started in the 200 free by winning the consolation finals, 4th in 200back and 5th in the 100 Free (another best time). He comes back for 100IM, 100 back and 50 free.
Glenn Lasco started off Friday night with a 5 second drop in the 500 free, finishing just outside the medals. After a disappointing swim in the 200 IM, he came back for the 400IM and dropped 11 second. On Saturday, he had a slow start in the 200 free but placed 14th in 200back before making the A finals in the 50 back. He placed 6th with a best time. He comes back for 100IM, 100 back and 50 free.
11-12 Boys 200 Medley Relay (Glenn Lasco, Giovanni Petinga, Steve Nguyen, Justin Liu) 3rd. A good race and a medal. The boys return for the 200 free relay on Sunday.
Maila Foy swam the 50 breast for 9-10 girls. Although she did not make the finals, she had a best time. She returns on Sunday for two swims ... Maila like Laura and Amber are wanting more ACAC girls to join them for JOs ... and relays.
Giovanni Petinga had a slow start in the 500 free on Friday night but did a best time in the 200IM. Giovanni was a member of the 3rd place 11-12 boys 200 Medley relay. Also, he was first alternate (with a best time) in the 100 breast. He comes back for 200 breast, 50 breast and 100 IM.
Ethan McCarron had a good start with the 200 IM on Friday night with a best time (by 4 seconds). On Saturday he swam a best time in 100IM and 100 free. He had a big day on Sunday with the 200 free, 50 free and 100 back. He too is wanting his fellow 9-10 boys to join he at JOs.
