July 2ndThe Seacat Bridge to Bridge Races,
The 7th Annual Edition of a classic Intracoastal Waterway swim.
The first race is 5K and starts at 4:00pm. The course record is just over one hour and their is a limited tidal flow. It starts at Albany Avenue, proceeds around Dorset Ave Bridge and returns to the ACHS crew House at Albany Avenue. 
The second race starts at 6:30pm and is a 1.4 mile swim from Dorset Bridge to the crew house, transportation is provided. 
Indoor showers and only a sprint swim from the world-famous Wonder Bar tiki bar & deck - Stay for the fireworks!

July 13th  2005 USLA Mid Atlantic Regional Championships in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

(Wed.)    and registration at the Beach Patrol Headquarters in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

              Swimming races include: Surf Swim  (box course); Run-Swim-Run (Box Course 200-

              400-200 yards); Rescue Race (Rescue Swimmer with fins and "can" retrieves a victim –

              who better be able to kick like crazy for 300 yards); Landlines - Rescue swimmer with

              fins, can, and pull line retrieves a victim and is pulled to shore by two associates.

              USLA have approved the addition of a Under 18 category for working guards in 4

              races at the regionals and nationals.  Events for the "Utes" include: Surf Swim; Run-

              Swim-Run; 2 Km Beach Run; and Rescue Board (long surf board). These events will

              provide an opportunity for younger working guards to compete, win national title and

              place that onto their college applications in 2005.  For information contact Phil Rogers

August 6th  8th Annual YMCA Lake Champlain Shore-to-Shore Swim, Burlington, VT. The

 (Sat.)           swimmers start on the New York side of the lake at Willsboro Point.  The swim is 8

     miles and the water temperature is 69-72 degrees.  The swim starts at 9 a.m. and

     the athletes finish at Blodgnet Beach (private beach) in Burlington, Vermont.

     Swimmers may wear wetsuits and each swimmer needs a chase boat.  The entry

     fee is $250 or else raise a minimum of $250 in pledges for the event.  For more

August 21st     2004 ACAC Bay Classic held in Atlantic City, NJ.  Events start at 11:00AM at the

(Sun.)            Atlantic City Crew House near the Albany Street Bridge on the back bay and

                     includes sanctioned races for age groups as follows:  10 & under

 – 800 meter; 12 & under - 1500 meter (1.5K); 14 & under - 3000 meter (3K) and

 15 & over 3000 meter (3K).  Swimmers must be current members in USA

 swimming to participate in the age group races.  In addition, there will also be an

2004 Middle Atlantic Open Water Championships
ACAC hosted the 2004 Middle Atlantic Open Water Championships on Sunday, August 22 in the Intracoastal Waterway behind Atlantic City. The races were set up over a 750-meter loop course and our Atlantic City swimmers performed quite well.  Joanna Thomas of Atlantic City notched the women's fastest time of the day in the 3000-meter distance, a 34:52 victory in the 14 & under bracket. Four other ACAC swimmers were crowned Middle Atlantic Champions: Erik Conover, 14 & under boys 3K (39:17); Laura Bassford, girls 15 & over 3K (37:32);  Julie Bassford, 12 & under 1500 meter (19:09) and Quinn Cassidy in the boys 10 & under 800 meter (10:02). 2004 Pageant Swim Results
The 75th Annual Miss America Pageant Swim was held Sunday 9/5/04 and it proved most successful for our ACAC swimmers. Joanna and Ross Thomas emerged as the overall winners, Dennen McCloskey finished fourth overall and Julie Bassford won the 11-12 age group and finished as the fifth fastest female overall while sister Laura grabbed the silver in the 15-18 female race. SEACATS BRIDGE TO BRIDGE RACES - JULY 3, 2004
The 5K Albany to Dorset to Albany swim proved to be quite the race! In a great strategic move at the 4500-meter mark, Dennen McCloskey overtook Ross Thomas to win the overall title in 1:02:49. 14 year-old Josh Wakeley of ACAC gave his all and led much of the way to finish 3rd overall in an outstanding 1:03:22 Reigning South Jersey and OCBP lifeguard Champ Paul Mangen was fourth overall in 1:05:02.  Laurie Hugg of Ambler, PA was fifth overall and won the women's race in 1:05:28, just ahead of Joanna Thomas (1:08:29) and Laura Bassford (1:10:35).  ACBP legend Mike Toy easily won the 1.3-mile on his "home course" in 29:23 and Erin Fischer, 15 of the Emmaus (PA) Aquatic Club captured the ladies title in 31:11.
